After almost 15 years of being employed full-time, in 2024 I took the plunge and went solo for the first time.
And let me tell you: It's been... wild.
Being an entrepreneur in Germany is not for the fainthearted. There are things you never think about that overnight become part of you everyday grind. Bills, taxes, bureaucracy, insurance, sleepless nights, new fears unlocked and insecurities you had no idea existed. People do tell you this, but you don't really grasp before you stand in the thick of it. I had to learn the hard way – while juggling three kids, my marriage, a social life and basically anything you can do in between to relax, feel good about your body and your mind, and avoid going insane.
Still, today, almost 12 months down the line, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
2024 saw me rekindle old relations, and create new ones. I stuck with the things I loved, and let go of those I didn't. Thanks to a number of people who put their trust in me, I managed to fill my calendar with work for some of the biggest agencies in Germany, working on incredible projects for some of the world's biggest brands. I launched new passion projects, took more photos than ever, and grew my newsletter FEIN consistently every month. I worked on new ideas, got to speak on podcasts, and even squeezed in a pretty random modelling gig (thanks Ena)...
And then of course, in September I launched STUDIO BUTIK with Franziska Goppold - the zenith of my year, and a dream come true for both of us. Just four months in, and we are getting a lot of buzz, new clients are signing up, we have a new website and social channels, and some really cool projects in the pipeline. This is now our baby, and we can't wait to see where it will take us next.
My hope for 2025 is that I will be busy. But the good kind of busy, where I get to set the pace and try to stay in control of where my energy flows. I feel challenged like never before, but liberated and hungry and fired up too. It's gonna be tough, it's gonna be wild, it's gonna be scary and it's gonna be difficult. But this is where I am supposed to be. It will be just perfect.
To everyone who helped me, who met with me, who worked with me, who believed in me, and who told me that it's gonna be alright: Thank you. I hope to see much more of all of you this year, too.
And to anybody out there still reading this post: Got a tip for me? Some advice I need to hear? Anything I should be doing next? Or a project I need to know about? Hit me in the comments or ping me a mail.
Thanks!
